SHARPE, Steven Stewart “Sharpie”
May 27, 1954 – June 11, 2021
After a brave battle with cancer, Steve Sharpe passed away peacefully at home on June 11th in his 67th year, with his wife and family by his side. Loving husband to Janet (nee Lamers) of 46 years. Proud and caring father to his children, Melissa Skinkle (Josh) of Stirling and Jeff Sharpe of Stirling. Loving and adored Grandpy to his grandchildren, Grayson and Brooklyn.
He was predeceased by his parents Don and Norma Sharpe (nee Harry) of Brighton and his father-in-law Hank Lamers of Trenton. Sadly missed by his mother-in-law, Johanna Lamers of Trenton and his brothers Douglas Sharpe of Tweed, Robbin Sharpe of Belleville, Kelly Sharpe (Maureen) of Brighton, Lyndon Sharpe (Roberta) of Trenton, as well as his brothers-in-law Harry Lamers (Teresa) of Stockdale, Danny Lamers (Anne) of Belleville and David Lamers (Julie) of Stockdale. He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Steve learned the true meaning of hard work growing up on the family dairy farm on the 3rd Conc of Brighton. He chose not to stay on the family farm and decided to become a truck driver. Steve was an employee of Cooney Transport Ltd. for 38 years. He started as a truck driver and then moved into the office as Fleet Maintenance Manager working with a team of mechanics to ensure that the fleet ran safely and efficiently.
Steve’s true passions in life were his cottage on Cordova Lake, where he enjoyed tinkering on the cottage, boating, jet skiing and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, four wheeling, travelling, and camping trips, especially, the several “guys only” camping trips to Algonquin park.
The family would like to express their gratitude to their family doctor, Dr. Andrew Robertson and to Dr. Janarthanan Kankesan and the oncology team at Belleville General Hospital. Also, a sincere thank you to the many other health care providers that were so supportive and caring during his battle. We would also like to thank all our family and friends for all their care and support during this difficult time.
At Steve’s request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life and internment will take place at a later date due to COVID restrictions. Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Though he cannot be with us anymore, we all know he will stay alive in our hearts and minds forever.
