1935-2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David
Wendell McKinney on June 11, 2021 at Pine Grove Nursing Home with
family by his side. He was born in Summerhill, Queens County, New
Brunswick on September 24, 1935. David was the son of the late George
and Margaret (Russell) McKinney.
David spent his 34 year career working for NB Tel. In his
spare time he enjoyed farming at his home in Maugerville where he ran
McKinney’s U-pick with his wife and family for over 40
years. One of David’s favorite hobbies was Genealogy and he
was a member of the Base Gagetown Historical
Society.
In addition to his wife Ruth (Hall), David is survived by his
daughters Mary McKinney Webb (Shawn) of Minot, Maine, Catherine
McKinney of Maugerville and Sandra McKinney of Scarborough, Maine; two
grandsons, Alexander and Aidan Webb of Minot, Maine; sister in law
Dorothy McKinney of Sus, NB and several nieces and
nephews.
David is predeceased by his brothers Machum and Russell as
well his sister in law Chloe McKinney.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Pine Grove
Nursing Home for their excellent care and compassion they showed David
during his time with them.
A memorial service will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home
on Saturday, August 14th, 2021 at 11:00am. A burial will follow at the
Maugerville Baptist Cemetery. A reception will take place at the
family home from 1:00pm – 4:00pm, those who wish to attend are
encouraged to bring a lawn chair. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to the Pine Grove Foundation, Parkinsons Society, or a charity of
donor’s choice.
