Obituary
White; Spence David Allan
Spence unexpectedly passed peacefully at Soldier’s Memorial Hospital on May 29th, 2021 at the age of 72. From complications due to cancer. Spence is survived by his loving wife Madeline (Cookie) nee (Tobey) White and their blended family of six children: Ashley (Kyle), Tammy (Mike), Jeff (Patricia), Paul (Lisa), Sandra, Scott (Laura). Spence will be greatly missed by his 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his late brother, Fraser White
Born March 2, 1949, Spence was an army brat who moved often, living on many army bases through out his younger years. After High School, Spence worked in Northern Ontario logging trees and in the mining industry. One of his jobs found him working in the human resource field placing unemployed people. Thru this contact he saw a job posting with Philips Electronics. Spence immediately hired himself for the job and was happily employed by Philips Canada (Toronto) becoming a member of the quarter century club; a position that he was proud to hold for over 35 years. Spence always got a kick out of telling people how he hired himself for his own dream job!!
Spence and Cookie (known as Gramma and Gramps) made a big move from Scarborough to Orillia in 2020 to further enjoy their retirement and spend time their children.
Spence was an extremely private man who preferred to spend his time outdoors enjoying nature, beating his love, Cookie, at Cribbage (always playing for $1.00 to make the game interesting). and watching his favorite television programmes.
In his early years Spence was an accomplished musician earning his grade 8 in piano and grade 2 in Theory from the Royal Conservatory of music in Toronto.
Spence will be greatly missed by his wife Cookie and his large extended family. Cookie and Spence’s relationship was a shining example of how a husband and wife’s love can endure and encourage others to have rewarding relationships.
