Paul Gregory Sherrard 2021

It is with shock and sadness we
announce the sudden passing of Paul Gregory Sherrard of
Pointe-du-Chene, NB. Paul passed away with family by his side at
Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital on Wednesday, May 26,
2021.
He will be forever missed by his
wife of 59 years, Judith Ann (McLean); children Michael (Rhonda
Cohen), Tanya Hastings (Kevin Richardson), and Kelly Boileau
(Stephen). His grand children were a source of great pride and he
showed them endless time and patience. To them, “Grampy” was
larger than life and they are heartbroken he is gone: Matthew Hastings
(Bryce Bernard), Ryley Hastings, Haley Sherrard, Dana Sherrard, Kya
Boileau, and Zoe Boileau. The loss will also be felt by
Paul’s nieces, nephews, and extended family
members.
Paul was born in Moncton, New
Brunswick on March 17, 1943, son of the late William and Jessie
(Dunnett) Sherrard and brother of the late Margaret Scobie. Paul grew
up in the Maritimes, graduated from the Faculty of Engineering at
University of New Brunswick, and worked as a Professional Engineer
throughout Canada and the US during his career. He was fortunate to
have played an integral role in the construction of some of
Canada’s most iconic structures (e.g, the
“SkyDome”). He also appreciated the significance of the
simplest bridge. He was an engineer’s engineer.
Paul’s love for building things carried over into his
favorite hobby of woodworking, creating many keepsakes to be cherished
by his family for many years to come. Paul was a member of the St.
Stephen’s United Church, Red Bank and formerly attended
Wesley Memorial United Church in Moncton.
Paul was fiercely loyal to those
he loved. He instilled in his children the most important attribute
above all was kindness. Paul often spoke of his love for the Miramichi
where he spent his years as a youth. He had a great appreciation for
its beauty. Paul was happiest standing on the riverbank in Sunny
Corner enjoying the quiet moments of life.
Family, friends, and members of
the community are invited to a Celebration of Paul’s Life at
Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, (858-1995) Moncton on
Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Interment to be held in Fair Haven Memorial
Gardens.
