A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather forever remembered with love.
After a short struggle with vascular dementia, God called Willie to his forever heavenly home. He passed peacefully at Meadowood Manor on December 30th.
Willie leaves a loving family to cherish many precious memories….his loving wife, Grace; daughter, Debrah (Manfred)of Nicaea,Turkey; son, Darrell (Kim) of Washington State; 15 grandkids and 4 great grandkids; sister Ruth; sister Helen and Eric; sister Sylvia and Ace; brother Murray and (Kim); many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Willie was born in Minitonas, Manitoba, on February 16, 1935. He farmed in the Minitonas/Bowsman area until his marriage to Grace at which time he transitioned to farming in the Oakbank area. Willie was a man of few words but loved to be with people. He rarely missed a morning having coffee at the coffee shop with his farmer friends when his health still permitted him to do so. Willie loved to sing and I’m sure he’s singing his heart out with the heavenly choirs. He directed and sang in many choirs in the churches he attended over the years. In recent years, he loved to sing for the Sunday services at Meadowood. As I (Grace) worked in children’s ministry, he so faithfully supported me and helped in every way he could.
A recording of the service to celebrate his life will be available online at Seasons Funeral Chapel after January 14th. Burial will be at Sunnyside Cemetery.
