Obituary
Lorraine (Lori) Theresa Rovang peacefully passed away with her loving family at her side on Monday May 10th, 2021 at the age of 57.
Lori was born in Stony Plain on December 1st, 1963 to lucky parents Jake and Martha Boos. She had three sisters, Suzanne, Kathy and Corrine, and eventually gained two step-parents, Lorraine Boos and Dan Jenkins. Lori graduated as valedictorian from Springbank Community High School in Calgary and earned an accounting diploma from NAIT. With diploma in hand, she married her high school sweetheart Mark Rovang on June 11th, 1983 in Edson.
Mark and Lori built an acreage in Miller’s Lake and their roots in the Edson area grew deeper with the birth of each of their children: Amanda, Sarah, and Tyler. Living in Miller’s Lake allowed many outdoor adventures to begin from their front step and Lori loved to spend time outdoors with her family. These adventures ranged from afternoon quad rides, countless camping trips, and numerous ski trips to Jasper, to a cross-Canada motorhome trip, long road trips on the Goldwing, and international travel. The trip she treasured most, however, was the simple pleasure of spending two weeks each summer camping with her extended family and friends at Mabel Lake, BC.
Lori passed on her appreciation of nature, wildlife, and family adventures to her kids and grandkids. Her biggest pride and joy were her grandchildren Max, Ben, Jay, Mckinley, Forrest, and Merreck. She was their Meema and their absolute favourite person in the world. Her endless energy to play and teach will be missed more than words can say but has left her grandchildren with many cherished memories.
In addition to her roles as Mom and Meema, Lori enjoyed a very successful career as an accountant and loved every minute of her job. She had a passion for hard work and professionalism, was respected by her colleagues and clients, and took great pride in delivering quality work. Lori also had a passion for volunteering and supported many local and provincial organizations such as the Stollery’s Children Hospital, Edson Cycling Association, Edson Animal Rescue Society, Edson Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Medicine Lodge Rodeo, Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department, Evergreen Parent-Teacher Association, and others.
The Rovang family would like to express special gratitude to Dr. Sarah Smith and home care nurses Katherine and Charlene for their heartfelt care and excellent service.
At last, thank you Lori for being the greatest Wife, Mom, and Meema that anyone could ever ask for. We know you are resting in peace and taking great care of Dan, Jerry, Lance, Tom, and Forrest. We will carry you in our hearts forever, will live each day by the values you have given us, and will work hard in your honour to make the world a bit better than the day before.
Love you for eternity,
Mark, Amanda & Mike, Sarah & Jesse, Tyler & Kaitlyn
