Death Notice
Marjorie Ann Dixon-Smeenk nee Macdonald
On May 15, 2021, Marjorie Ann lost her valiant journey with cancer. She was in her 58th year. Ann was raised and had her early education in Ridgetown. She finished high school in London, at Mount St. Josephs Academy, and went on to earn an Honours Arts degree from Brock University in St. Catharines. Upon completion of her degree she was accepted into the fledging Masters of Art Therapy program at Brock – she chose instead to follow her heart and marry. Her three children – Angus, Ivan, and Jessica – were the lights of her life.
Later she returned to school and earned a Hair Stylists diploma. Eventually she settled in Thamesville and set-up her barber shop alongside her second husband Henry Smeenk. She greatly enjoyed meeting her customers as her new business continued to grow and was an active member of both the Thamesville Seratoma club and Thamesville Legion.
Marjorie Ann is survived by her husband Henry Smeenk of Thamesville, her mother Beth Goldhawk of London, sons Angus Dixon (Rachel) of Red Deer and Ivan Dixon of Edmonton, daughter Jessica Dixon of Toronto, and three adorable grandchildren. Her siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws all share in the sorrow of her early passing. She is predeceased by her father J. A. Ross Macdonald and grandsons Tristan and Lynus Dixon.
A special thanks to Dr. Natalie Hertzman, Dr. Anita Singh, Dr. Younous, Dr. Yaremko and the staff at the London Cancer Clinic, the very caring staff of St. Josephs Hospice and the Staff of the London-Middle and Southwest VONs and LIHNs.
A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. The family ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to: St. Joseph’s Hospice, 485 Windermere Road, London, ON N5X 2T1 or online at sjhospicelondon.com or any charity of your choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Marjorie Ann Dixon-Smeenk 2021..
Death notice for the town of: London, Province: Ontario
It is with great sadness to learn of Lady Marjorie’s passing. She was my friend and will never be forgotten. Her smile, laughter, crazy sense of humor, talkative nature and her love will be the things I will hold dear in my heart when I think of her. Having walked through loss, I understand Henry and families pain. I know that the days are hard and dark right now for you as Marjorie was a bright light in your life, but she will forever shine in your memories.
Love ya kid!, Lynnie Koskela”
