Obituary of Russell Brittain
BRITTAIN RUSSELL – At the Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews, NB on Tuesday, May 11th, 2021; Ernest Russell Brittain of Rolling Dam, NB, husband of the late Gretta Brittain. Born in Forest Glen, NS, December 24th, 1930; he is the son of the late Robert & Bertha (Hanf) Brittain.
A resident of Rolling Dam most of his life, he dedicated his service to his community by serving as a volunteer firefighter for the Rolling Dam Fire Dept. for over 38 years. He also was a faithful member of the Masonic Lodge Sus #7 F. & A.M. for 62 years.
Russell loved being outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing. His family and friends knew him as an amazing story teller.
Russell is survived by his son Darcy (Rosalie), daughter Zenda Noddin (Ivan), 6 grandchildren Jessica (Dave), Jamie (Meg), Krista (Colby), Doug, Kelly (Chris), Crystal (Steve), 7 great grandchildren Brooke, Bailey, Lily Nathaniel, Paige, Evan, and Mason one sister Bertha Dearman (Ron) of Burns Lake, BC, several , nieces, nephews and cousins.
Russell was predeceased by his wife Gretta of 60 years, his son Carter Brittain, brothers Malcolm, Burpee, Prescott and Edgar (Sammy), sisters Roberta (Ima) Patey, Mary Burrill, Eva Brittain, Pauline Stevens, Viva Beals, Viola Gray and Mildred Kinney.
By Russell’s request there will be no visitation. Cremation will take place. A private family graveside service will be held at Rolling Dam Cemetery.
