Aimee’s Obituary
We take this bittersweet moment to announce the home going of a dear fiancé, beautiful daughter, a precious sister, a loving aunt, and cherished friend. Aimee peacefully received her miracle and was made new, as she went to be with Jesus, surrounded by those she loved the most at Western Memorial Palliative Care Unit on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at age of 37 years.
The qualities that defined Aimee were instilled in her by her parents at an early age. She was loved and she loved beyond measure. To know her was to love her. Aimee was born on May 27th, 1983 in Corner Brook, NL. In her early years she lived in Hampden with her parents, who she adored, and her only younger brother Scott. She adored her little brother and was his biggest protector. Scott and his wife, Sara, blessed her with two nephews and a niece and made her “Meme”. They were her reason for fighting and she loved them dearly. In 2001 she graduated high school and moved to Corner Brook to attend Grenfell University where she studied and graduated with her Bachelor in Psychology and Certificate in Criminology in 2007.Throughout her career she worked with Western Health, Westrock Community Center, and Vineplace and continued to work there until her diagnosis in 2020. She took great pride in her job and touched many lives during her career.
Aimee met her soul mate and love of her life, Ian, in 2015. They were engaged in May of 2020. They equally made each other happy. She enjoyed every moment with him; traveling, playing pool or making him the latest recipe she learned on the Food Network. She was always happiest when she was surrounded by those she loved, listening to country music, cooking and baking in her kitchen, making witty jokes and loving others. She had a natural way of caring for others and always lending a helping hand. After being diagnosed with cancer in early 2020 she remained positive, no matter the circumstances, she never lost her sense of humour. Her courage in fighting cancer never wavered. Through it all, her faith grew stronger and she believed everything happens for a reason. She never complained and was always grateful for those who cared for her and always put others before herself. Aimee was quiet in nature but had a sharp wit, sense of humour, and a fierce loyalty to her family and friends. She had a way of knowing when those around her needed support. Aimee thought the world of her family and lived to care for the ones she loved. She was incredibly proud of her nephews and niece. The pass 18 months wasn’t easy for Aimee but she never complained, rarely questioned, and thanked God everyday for what He blessed her with.
Leaving to share her memories, her fiancé and soul mate, Ian Strang, parents, Gary and Dale Randell, brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Sara Randell, her very best friend, Stephanie Noseworthy, and the very lights of her life and reason for living, her nephews and niece, Colby, Drew and Layla. Also, “her girl” and best doggie friend Lily. Also, remembering her is a very large circle of close family and friends. Aimee was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Dolly and Arthur Randell, maternal grandparents, Cluda and Randolph Stride, as well as, Uncle Beaton Randell and Great-Aunt Sarah Grandy.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Avery, Dr. Armstrong, Dr. Drodge and the whole crew at the Cancer Centers at the Health Sciences Center and Western Memorial Regional Hospital. Thank you for you expertise, guidance and wonderful support throughout the last year.
In Aimee’s honor, be a little extra kind and spread love to those who need it most; we could all stand to be a little more like Aimee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House in her name.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be no public viewing and celebration of life will be a private family service by invitation only.
