Joyce Elaine Scott 1942-2021

Bathurst – Mrs. Joyce Elaine Scott, formerly of Cole Harbour, NS, wife of the late Franklin Scott (April 29, 1992), passed away on Wednesday April 28, 2021 at Gables Lodge in Amherst at the age of 79.
Born in Bathurst, NB, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Isalee (Knowles) Dempsey.
She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Scott (Gordon Linder) of Fredericton and grandchildren: Katie (Shawn) Moran, Emmie Morrissey and Joshua (Erin) Morrissey and precious great grandchildren, Paisley, Alexa, and Austin.
Seven siblings: Shirley Sealy (late Manford) of Bathurst, Carlson “Mike” Dempsey (Joanne) of Paradise, Pat Scott (late Byron) of Sus, Wilma Dempsey (Fred Hudon) of Bathurst, Howard Dempsey (Elaine Lanteigne) and Peter Dempsey (Elan) both of Stonehaven and Rhonda Smith (Hadley) of Salmon Beach.
Besides her husband Frank, she was pre-deceased by two sons: Paul (2009) and Kevin (2010) and one daughter, Tanya (2020).
Elaine was a true homemaker, especially in her earlier years when she focused on raising her four children, cooking, quilting, knitting and crocheting and providing all comforts of home. In later years she worked in retail selling materials and yarn so others could enjoy those hobbies.
The family will receive relatives and friends for public visitations Sunday, May 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst, with all covid restrictions in place. A graveside service will be held at St. Alban’s Cemetery, Bridge Street, on May 3 at 3 p.m.
Donations in memory of Elaine may be made to IWK Hospital, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
