James J. Coffey
1938-2021
It is with great sadness that the family of James (Jim) J
Coffey announce his passing on April 28, 2021 at Placentia Health
Centre.
Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Catherine Coffey,
brother Fred and baby sister Hilda.
Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Coffey;
daughter Claudette (Bill White) and son Danny (Suzanne French, and
daughters Jordan and Brooke); brothers Edgar (Mill), Martin (Maude),
Adrian (Lily), and sisters Mabel, Madonna, Bridget, Ellen and a huge
circle of extended family and lifelong friends.
Jim was born and lived his life in Angel’s Cove. He
was a heavy equipment operator and a hard worker who passed on his
exemplary work ethic to his daughter and son. He was a devoted Father
and husband and will be greatly missed for his dry wit, kindness, and
helpful nature. He loved going in the woods and there were no limits
to adding to his woodpile.
He was always there to help a neighbour and share a story
from days gone by. He was generous man who was loved by old and young
alike.
He loved to visit friends and chat about work they had done
over the years. He started working at the age of fifteen until his
seventies; mostly because he just loved machines, loaders, excavators,
anything that moved dirt. He will definitely be remembered by his
heavy equipment friends.
The family would like to send a sincere thank you to Dr.
Power and the staff of the Placentia Health Centre for their care and
compassion.
Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in his memory to
the H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.
Visitation will take place at Maher’s Funeral Home
in Placentia on Friday, April 30th, 2 pm -9 pm.
Due to COVID-19 regulations, the funeral will be a private
event.
