Yvonne’s Obituary
After a courageous battle with cancer, Yvonne Hearn passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Canora Hospital on November 1, 2020, at the age of 62 years.
Yvonne was born June 29, 1958 at Preeceville, SK, to William and Anne (Fedyk) Chehorsky. She attended elementary school at Stenen, SK, and received her high school education from Sturgis High School. She went on to complete her GED in Yorkton, SK, as well as additional business diplomas.
On March 26, 1977, Yvonne married Dean Hearn and together they were blessed with three daughters, Angie, Carrie, and Roxanne.
Throughout her lifetime, Yvonne lived on a farm by Crystal Lake, in Stenen, Preeceville, Yorkton, Lloydminster, and Canora. She liked to travel and visited many places including Squamish and Kelowna, BC, Edmonton and Calgary, AB, Winnipeg, MB, and Jan Lake, SK.
For many years, Yvonne was employed as a Sales Associate with the Gateway Coop. She also worked as a bookkeeper within the Yorkton Exhibition Association. No matter where she worked, co-workers, customers, and clients alike enjoyed her caring, calming, witty, playful, laid back disposition. She made everyone feel comfortable in her presence.
Yvonne was also an active and dedicated member of the United Church Women’s League, Stenen Drift-Riders, and the Stenen Wildlife Association. In her spare time, she loved spending her time with family and friends, especially her sister and best friend, Debbie, enjoying many camping and fishing trips, and mushroom picking, as well as many hours in the kitchen or in her vegetable and flower gardens. She was also known for her extensive dolphin collection and her incredible nalysnyky.
More than anything, Yvonne enjoyed the company of her family. She attended and celebrated their birthdays, graduations, concerts, grandson’s hockey games and granddaughter’s dance recitals. She was always there to lend her loved ones the support they knew they could rely and count on from her. Yvonne was happiest at family get togethers and enjoyed the laughter and reminiscing of humorous memories and recollections.
The impact she made on the lives of others will never be forgotten and she will be dearly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Yvonne was predeceased by her parents, William and Anne; four sisters: Wilma Hayes of Yorkton, SK, Valerie Pickunyk of Edmonton, AB, Corrie Norston-Chehorsky of Edmonton, AB, and Alice Kotyk of Tadmore, SK; and her nephew, Derrick Norston of Edmonton, AB.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Angie (Daniel), Carrie, and Roxanne (Bailen); grandchildren, Josh, Bentley, Brooklyn, and Boston; brothers, John (Dawn) and Claude (Melanie) Chehorsky; and sisters: Lu (Walter) Slobozian, Adeline Watson, Bonnie (Harry) Prekaski, and Debbie (Tom) Dutchak; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Family and friends are invited to a Public Visitation from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Friday, November 6, 2020 at the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK.
