WOOD SHARON 2020

WOOD, SHARON
Published | By
SHARON WOOD, beloved wife of Brian, died on January 16 in Lethbridge. Born in Regina in 1943, she was the mother of Andrew, Sarah and Dan. She was grandmother to six grandchildren: Grace, Asher, Elijah, Natalie, Ethan and Kelty.
She accepted her Lord as Savior in Swan River, Mb in 1973 and was influential in mentoring many young and some not so young women over her years as a devoted Christian. Her Bible was falling apart but her life was intact.
The U. of Sask., Regina Campus saw Sharon in its first graduating class. It was here that she met and married Brian in 1967. They spent happy years at Briercrest Biblical Seminary, Prairie Bible College and the U. of British Columbia.
She worked as housewife, Pastor’s wife in Stettler, librarian, and as a very successful salesperson in Banff. She commuted from our home in Stavely to an apartment provided by her employer in Banff. Close friendships were founded in each of these locations.
Storytelling, both to children and to adults, was her passion. The church, senior’s nursing homes, Christian Motorcycle Assn. parties, as well as the Big Valley train excursion were enlivened by her stories.
In later years, summers were spent in the National Parks keeping bears and people separated and enjoying camping in the Rockies. Winters found her testing the waters and making friends at the Fountain of Youth Spa in California.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday January 21, 2020 at The Lethbridge First Baptist Church 1614 5 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB.
