Obituary
Winnifred Christine (Shears) MacDonald passed away peacefully on the morning of February 26, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, surrounded with family. Winnie was born on August 26, 1941; she was born to Joseph (“Wilfred”) and Lavignia Shears and was the youngest of 21 children in a combined family. Winnie leaves behind her beloved husband of 43 years, Roy, her daughter Lorie, sister Vona (Randolph Hope), grandson Jared, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of wonderful friends. Winnie is pre-deceased by her mother and father, brothers Headley, Winslow, Leslie, James, Levi, Simon, Donald, Ronald, and Ford, along with sisters Anita, Mary, Laura, Ruby, Velma, Adelia, Paulina, Marjorie, Wilfreda, and Dorothy. Winnie was an amazing soul with a beautiful, contagious smile and loving heart. She was so talented and vivacious, and could accomplish anything she put her mind to. She had such a wonderful way of putting life’s turmoils into better perspectives. She enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and was an amazing cook and seamstress, yet also loved to get dolled up at her best and enjoy a fashionable evening out. She has experienced and lived it all.
She took great pleasure in all aspects of life and loved her family and friends so much. We are blessed and grateful to have been able to share so many wonderful memories with her. We will all miss her presence in our lives dearly, yet take pleasure and peace in her having been amazing part of it. As per Winnie’s request, following cremation there will be no visitation or funeral service. For those who wish, remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
