Willis Vincent (Bill) McKenzie was born in Elrose, Saskatchewan on August 23, 1928, the youngest of six children, to Alexander and Christena McKenzie. Although his earliest years were spent in the Cereal, Alberta area, the family soon moved further west to continue farming and ranching in the Bowden area.
