Paterson, William Roger “Pat”
Born Redcliff, AB on June 8, 1936
Passed away in Ottawa on April 14, 2020
Peacefully with his wife Sandy Paterson (Scott) and his children at his side. Predeceased by his parents William Copeland and Susan Paterson, and his previous wife Diane Marshall (1997). Loving father of Susan Paterson-Bowes (Jeff), Kathy Paterson (Kumar Saha), and Douglas Paterson (Pam Delaney), as well as stepson Scott Hughes (Amy). Also survived by his previous wife Sylvia McQuatt (nee Kealey), the mother of his 3 children, and his siblings Betty Charlesworth (Bob), David Paterson, and Judy Love (Dan). In his retirement years he was a proud grandpa and superfan to Courtney Paterson (Chris)- soccer, Kelsey Saha- soccer, Jacob Saha- hockey, and Adam, Brennan and Caden Paterson- hockey. Pat’s career included maintaining Radar, Navigational Aid and Communications Systems in the RCAF (5 years), the DEW Line 3 years and retired from Transport Canada after 22 years. Leisure activities were bridge, curling, golf, softball, touch football and hockey and being the family historian. He was a member of the Navy Curling Club for 37 years, the Pineview Golf Course and Bells Corners Legion Branch 593. Much appreciation for the wonderful care by the staff of the Ottawa Civic and General Campus’, Dr. M. McKinnon, (Palliative Care Team), as well as the nurses from Bayshore Home Care. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Center, the Ottawa Hospital Foundation or Jumpstart.
