William Hideo Yatabe
William Yatabe passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the age of 56. He died at home in his sleep after a long fight with cancer. William is survived by his sister Susan, brother-in-law Stuart Craig, nephew Ewan Craig, uncle Roy Shinobu (late Maki) and aunts Amy Yatabe (late Mas), Lydia Yatabe (late Min), Marnie Hirano (late Gus) and Roe Yatabe (late Tom). He is survived by many cousins in Canada and the United States. He was predeceased by father Eiji Yatabe and mother Kazuko Yatabe. William grew up in Deep River, Ontario, obtained an electrical engineering degree from Carleton University and resided in Ottawa, Ontario. He worked for several engineering firms in Ottawa, most recently Thales and General Dynamics. William enjoyed boating on the Ottawa River, astronomy, electronics, travelling, badminton, beach volleyball and volleyball, and was an avid runner and cyclist. He loved his dogs, Wallace and Gromit. Cremation has taken place, funeral arrangements entrusted to Tubman Funeral Homes in Ottawa. A celebration of life for William will take place in Deep River at a later date, to be announced. In memoriam donations to the Canadian Cancer Society Wheels of Hope program.

  1. I am very saddened to hear about William’s passing. William and I played badminton together as Mackenzie High School’s doubles team. I remember what a nice person he was. So full of determination and energy.

    My deepest condolences to the family and friends he leaves behind.
