MACDOUGALL, William Henry (Harry) Sgt. (Ret.) – It is with immense sorrow that we share with you the heartbreaking news of Harry’s passing, peacefully, in his 84th year, at the Perley and Rideau Veteran’s Health Center, Ottawa, Ontario, on October 16th, 2020. Beloved husband of 50 years to the late Rhea (nee Higginson). Loved and cherished always by son Kevin MacDougall (Carolyn), of Pickerington, Ohio, and daughter, Heather ‘Nancy’ Blake, of Owls Head, Maine. Treasured Grandpa of Brock and Bryce MacDougall (Ohio), and Maeve Blake (Colorado). Son of the late Clarence and Sadie MacDougall (nee Dupe). Predeceased by brothers Melvin MacDougall (Audrey), Sinclair MacDougall (Marilyn), and John MacDougall (late Vivian), and sister, Ruby (late Cec). Predeceased also by brothers-in-law Bill Higginson (Joan), and Bob Higginson (late Marge). Former brother-in-law of Gloria MacDougall. Much loved uncle of Paul MacDougall (Faye), David MacDougall (Jennifer), Karen MacDougall, Jamie MacDougall, and Rhea Higginson (Adam MacDonald). Great uncle of Alyssa Cain (Ryan), Sam MacDougall, and Amber, Talia, and Billy Wootton. He will forever be remembered for his sharp sense of humour, his gentle nature, his compassion and kindness to others, and his great pride for his Nova Scotian heritage. His delightful telephone calls to family and friends were always welcomed and appreciated, and will be sadly missed. Survived by many nieces, nephews, close friends, and extended family all across Canada. Sincerest gratitude to the dedicated souls and loving hearts at the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Center, who gently cared for him with kindness and respect. In accordance with Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life is planned, at a later date, in his beloved Cape Breton.
