William Enoch Whipple Friday January 17th 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce that Bill passed away peacefully, on Jan.17, 2020, surrounded by his family and friends. His good nature, humour and quick wit, brought many friends into his life. And he loved life!
After graduating from high school at Kirkwood Missouri, his birthplace, he enlisted in the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict, and was sent to the Mediterranean as Staff Sargent in Telecommunications. After the service he enrolled in Pre-Med at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, then switched to a BA in Business Admin.
Where he obtained his degree. In 1955 he married Gloria, and they were blessed with 7 daughters:
Christina(Doug) Burren, Delburne AB, Denise Oberst(Gene Roach), Red Deer AB, Theresa (pre-deceased) 2012, Elizabeth Whipple, Nordegg AB, Angela Duffin, Red Deer AB, Patrice(Brian) James, Rapid City, South Dakota, and
Dr. Joy Whipple(Dr. Tom Denker) Whitefish, Montana. Bill is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
In 1970, Bill had an opportunity to buy a foundry, and took a course in Kansas City, Missouri on foundries. He then bought the foundry in Calgary, AB, from Keith and Faye Ball, and moved his family from St. Louis, MO to Calgary, AB. He re-located the business to Delburne, AB in 1975, where it is now owned and operated by his daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Doug Burren and their family.
Bill’s favorite hobbies were camping and fishing, as well as golf, gardening , music, dancing, art, bowling and a good swim. He was a do-er, go getter and activist for many causes, where his sayings were well known to many; “Find a need and fill it”, “Let’s do it”, and “Always remember to smile”. He had a deep love and respect for what nature had to teach all of us. He also often said, “I wish I could have become a doctor”.
A big thanks and sincere appreciation to all the doctors, nurses and staff on Unit 21 and Unit 32 at Red Deer Hospital. A special thanks to Dr. Conradie and Dr. Holmes.
Also thank you to everyone Bill met and considered his family at Revera Aspen Ridge for their kindness and support.
