William Bill Herrick January 9th 2020

William (Bill) Herrick passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 9, 2020 at Columbia View Lodge in Trail after a lengthy struggle with dementia. Bill was born in Parkside, Saskatchewan.
He moved to Rossland, and later Trail, after graduating from high school and started working at Cominco. He retired in 1986 as the Accountant of Engineering Finance after 40 years of service. Two years later, he was invited back to work and stayed on for another eight years.
Bill was devoted to his family. He enjoyed gardening, working around the yard and curling. He was especially proud of the Nativity scene that he displayed in his front yard every Christmas for over 30 years. In his youth, Bill played goalie for the Shellbrook Elks hockey team. He also took up skiing with his two children.
Bill was predeceased by Juan (June), his wife of 54 years, and four brothers and seven sisters. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Renée, son Troy (Diane) and numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank Dr. Miles Smith and all of the nurses, care aides and staff at Columbia View Lodge for the love and care that they gave to Bill over the last few years. Staff often mentioned that Bill was always smiling.
A private service will be held. Eric Toneff of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with the arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Bill’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC at 300-828 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver BC V5Z 1E2 or online at: Alzheimer.ca/en/bc/
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
