Obituary
It is with deep sadness and love that the family announces the passing of William” Bill” Price. Born on August 7, 1928, the oldest of 5 children and two step-siblings to Bill Sr. & Florence Price, who farmed near Hoey, Sk.
Bill met and married his wife of 71 years, Jackie, on August 14, 1948. After leaving the farm, Bill’s working years started as a mechanic at an implement dealership in Domremy, Sk then a car dealership in Meadow Lake, Sk. After the birth of their son Jim, the family moved to Black Diamond in 1962, where they bought what became Bill and Jackie’s Grocery & Meats, which is now Country Food Mart AG Foods.
Once retiring from the store, Bill continued to work in the local oilfield before starting his own BJ’s Oilfield Service company. Always involved in the community he loved, Bill was very active with various local organizations from Cub Scout leader, coaching & umping baseball to the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Town Council & later the Griffiths Memorial Center.
Bill’s passion for old cars is well known within the community as he enjoyed displaying the ones he had restored at shows and parades. The cars, camping trips, skiing or snowmobiling, lake time or fishing, Christmases or Birthdays, or cheering on the Okotoks Dawgs, so many cherished memories.
Bill will be forever loved and dearly missed by his son Jim, daughter in law Judy, grandsons Trevor (Emily) and Brad (Lien), great-granddaughters Bree and Abby, nephews, nieces and friends. Bill was predeceased by his parents Bill Sr. & Florence Price, brothers Ted & Dave, and wife Jackie on January 15, 2020.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 24, at 1 PM at the Foothills Cemetery, Black Diamond. A procession of antique/classic cars in Bills honour will start from 1st street SE in Black Diamond at 12:30. All collector cars welcome to join in.
