William “Bill” D. Rector
1953-2020
It is with deep sadness we announce the
passing of William (Bill) Dwight Rector
of Port Howe, formerly of Amherst. Bill passed at home Friday, April
17, 2020, surrounded by his family, after a short but courageous
battle with cancer.
Born in Springhill he was the son of the
late Samuel and Anne (Little) Rector.
He worked for 33 years at Nova Scotia
Power starting as a Linesman and finishing his career as a Supervisor.
He had been a Scout leader, taking a troop to a Canadian Jamboree in
Alberta. He volunteered a few years as a Warden at Christ Church in
Amherst. He enjoyed curling and curled competitively when he
was younger. In his retirement he took up golfing and
biking.
He will be remembered for his kindness,
his helping ways, a hearty laugh that could be heard for great
distances and an amazing moustache. He will also be
remembered for quirky sayings, wonderful facial expressions and
gestures. He touched the lives of everyone he
met.
Bill will be missed by his soulmate of
42 years Joy (Harrison) Rector; son Christopher (Amy Strang) of
Halifax; daughter Karen Rector, Amherst, chosen daughter Wan Chung

Death notice for the town of: Amherst, Province: Nova Scotia
Joy,
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Bill and send our sincere sympathy to you and all family members. We are thinking especially of his brother Dick because it was obvious they shared a very loving relationship. Bill was a kind, friendly man who endeared himself to all he met on his all too brief journey of life, He will be greatly missed at Beachway Park. We are thinking of you during those difficult days and praying that you will take comfort in knowing that he was spared a long period of suffering. May God’s love surround you in your grief and grant you peace.
