Obituary
Muir, William Angus (Bill) -The tractors sit silent in the barn. Our beloved Bill transitioned to his heavenly farm on March, 24th, 2020. He loved and was loved by his wife of 57 years, Doreen Elizabeth (Tillson), daughter Sandi Robbie (Peter), son Steven and grandsons, Darren and Isaac. He was predeceased by his parents, William Alexander Muir and Ermal Jean Muir (Matheson) and his sister Dorothy Burt-Gerrans. Bill was born in Woodstock, Ontario on June 27, 1937. He was a graduate of Woodstock Collegiate Institute. Bill then spent two years working with his Father on the family Woodstock dairy farm. From this experience Bill knew that the future of farming was not just about milking cows but required management skills. He was then on to Ontario Agricultural College, Guelph, graduating in 1960 followed by a year at Kemptville Agricultural Mechanics campus (1961). Following this he became an Accredited Farm Appraiser. In 1963 Bill married Doreen and for the next six years they travelled Ontario as Bill began his career as an appraiser for Farm Credit Corporation. Never having given up on his dream of farming, in 1969 he and Doreen returned to the Woodstock home farm. For the next 30 years they expanded and managed 1000 acres, a rural appraisal business, and a tree nursery and grew their family. Bill’s success was twofold. He was intelligent and he was a people person. In 1999, retirement called, the farm was sold and Bill and Doreen moved to Arizona, where they were residing at the time of Bill’s death. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A celebration of life will be held at Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock, after Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted.
