Willena Selfridge MacKinnon 2020

Willena (Selfridge) MacKinnon
Sydney Mines
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Willena MacKinnon, age 81, on Monday, November 2,2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Mayberry Selfridge and Willena Myrtle (Carr)
Children were everything to Willena, whether they were her own or not, she always made sure they were fed, happy and loved. She was the “cool Nannie”, you knew you could trust her with anything. The Mac’s Corner gang always had a story about the 3 W’s.
Willena loved Coronation Street, Rita MacNeil and enjoyed road trips with her daughter and best friend “Kimberly Ann”.
Willena is survived by her daughters; “Kimberly Ann”, Sydney Mines, Wanda (John), Truro, son Lorne (Little Pond), brother, Gordon (Irene), Sydney Mines, and grandchildren Blake (Erin), Kent (Courtney), Cheryl (Sandy), Andrew and Matthew (Trish), along with several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Willena also leaves behind, her “other daughters” and very special friends, Laurel Gear Kirrane and Angie Barry. They shared a lot of laughs together.
Besides her parents Willena was predeceased by her daughter; Wendy Jennine (MacKinnon) Pye. Sisters; Agnes, Jessie and Jean, brother James who she had a special bond with.
There will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Donation’s in Willena’s memory may be made to the Pallative Care Society of Cape Breton County or to the Lupus Foundation. Words of comfort may be forwarded the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
