Wilfred is predeceased by parents Mary and Nicholas Herperger; three infant brothers, Matthew, Nicholas and Emery; brothers Albert, Alfred and Rudy; brother-in-law Geza Balasz; sister-in-law Nelly Herperger; and great-granddaughter Avea Harding. Dad was born on the farm in Stockholm, SK on January 2, 1938. At 22, he married our mother, Bernadine Plosz, and moved to Regina which became his home until his passing. Dad attended Saskatchewan Technical Institute in Moose Jaw, SK, where he completed his education to become an electrician and later obtained journeyman status. He was proud to work his entire career with IBEW Local 2038 until his retirement. Dad developed a love for music early on in life. He was an audiophile with a passion and knowledge of music that led him to spend countless hours listening to various artists on high end stereo equipment that he acquired from countries around the world. Dad loved to be with his family. We spent many nights watching movies from his vast movie collection; it was always a two-movie minimum with popcorn included. He was an avid Rider fan and loved to watch the Riders play from the comfort of his living room. But mostly he enjoyed our family gatherings with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family meant everything to him. The last three years of Dad’s life were spent at Riverbend Crossing Memory Care. He was well taken care of and developed a strong bond with the staff. They described dad as a kind, gentle man with a good sense of humour. He always had a cheery disposition when family came to visit. As much as Dad enjoyed his time there and would miss it if he left, his desire to go home one day was often on his mind. Dad was a quiet, kind and generous man. He loved family, music, movies and going for walks. He would open his home to anyone who needed a place to stay and had many friends and family stay there throughout the years. Supporting various charities was always a priority for him. Due to COVID, a Celebration of Wilfred’s Life will be held at a later date. A private interment will be held for the family at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff at Riverbend Crossing Memory Care where dad resided for the last three years; Dr. Baldwin, Dr. Cuddington and the nurses on 4B and Palliative Care at the Pasqua Hospital. Friends and family so wishing may make memorial donations in Wilfred’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan, 2550 12 Ave, Regina, SK S4P 3X1 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Ave #26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Wilfred
