It is with deep sadness, the family announces the passing of Wilfred Arne Brandstrom at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli, Manitoba on April 21, 2020. Wilfred passed away peacefully, after a difficult battle with cancer.
He is survived by his daughters Kristi Brandstrom Luik (Tim) and Kelli Stewart (Ian), and grandchildren Nathan, Emily, Remington and Benjamin, as well as his sisters Beverley (Paul) Johnson, Carolyn Thorlacius, and brother Neil (Anna) Brandstrom, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Mae (Brandstrom) Poston (nee Whiteside), and his father Arne Brandstrom.
Wilfred was born in Eriksdale, Manitoba and raised his family in Stonewall, Manitoba. After working as an electrical technician for Manitoba Hydro for many years, he enjoyed a happy retirement, living in Vernon B.C., Winkler, Manitoba and Gimli.
Wilfred enjoyed being in nature and staying active. He loved being in his garden and enjoyed sharing its bounty each year. His beloved dog Louie, who predeceased him, was his faithful companion. Wilfred inherited a love of playing cards and solving puzzles. He carved beautiful walking sticks and participated in activities at the Gimli New Horizons Centre. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
