GASTON, Wilfred Allen Leonard “Wilf” ~ Age 81, of Middleton, Annapolis Co., passed peacefully in the Heart of the Valley LTC facility in Middleton, on Friday, Jul 24, 2020. Born in Doaktown, N.B., on Dec. 2nd., 1938, the 7th child of 14 to the late William and Lucy (Robinson) Gaston. Wilf proudly served in the RCAF for 27 years, finishing his career as a Warrant Officer. He was a 34-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a Jack-of-all-trades with a long list of volunteer activities to his credit, including: Hockey Referee, Rink Rat and coach, Radio Station DJ, Golf Club Manager and enthusiast. Skate Canada Nova Scotia Chairman and Data Specialist. He was an accomplished musician and he and his brothers were inducted into the Miramichi and New Brunswick Country Music Hall of Fame. He always said his greatest accomplishment was his children who he proudly supported in all their endeavors and anyone who knew him would say he was a great teacher and an exceptionally good cook. His nieces and nephews, who he always made time for, adored him. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, the former Jeanette A. “Jan” Freeman, Middleton; his daughter, Cheryle (Lorne), Middleton; son, Ron, Peterborough, Ont.; grandchildren, Alexandria (Sean), Jessica (Ryan), Luke (Hannah), Vanessa (Dom), Nicole, Michelle, Kristine (Travis) and Liane (Eric); brothers, Edward (Glenna) Doaktown, N.B.; and Bev (Linda) Saint John, N.B.; sisters, Betty (0ve) Doaktown, N.B.; Sharon (Merville) Doaktown, N.B.; Eleanor (Evelock) Blissfield, N.B.; Joanne, Fredericton, N.B. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Billy, Floyd, Morrisey, Ronnie and Bobbie; and sisters, Margie and Shirley. A private service will take place. The family would like to thank the staff of Grand View Manor and Heart of the Valley for the loving care shown to him. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations be made to Heart of the Valley LTC Recreation Fund or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
