Wheeler Ray Horace 2020

Wheeler, Ray Horace
It is with great sadness that the family of Ray Wheeler announces his passing at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at the age of 88.
Ray was born in Stayner, Ontario on September 3, 1931, a son of the late Horace and Rowena (nee Curran) Wheeler.
He was the beloved husband of Howie (nee Morris) Wheeler for over 64 years.
Ray was a loving father to his children Wanda Wheeler and Steve Wheeler (Luisa). He was a cherished grandfather to Hillary (John), Ally (Kyle), Zach (Alix), and Chris (Loree), and great grandfather to Everett and Finley.
He is survived by his brother Laurie Wheeler, and was predeceased by his siblings Borden (Dolly), Florence (Leo), Lorne, Doris (Bill), Reg, Frank, and Carl. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and their families.
Ray was an avid golfer and angler, and he enjoyed both best with family at his side. In his younger years Ray played both hockey and baseball for Meaford. His chocolate cakes were legendary, and his butter tarts were prized by the entire family (with or without raisins). He enjoyed tending to the flowers around the house and loved to cook for everyone.
A private family graveside service will be conducted at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford.
As your expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer society would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted. www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca
