Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Wendy, a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and teacher.
Wendelyn (Wendy) Maureen Menzies (nee Wilton) passed away on March 13, 2020 in the Neepawa Hospital surrounded by loved ones.
Wendy was born to the late Jack and Leona Wilton on January 15, 1954. She grew up on her parents dairy farm NW of Roland, which gave Wendy an ongoing love of the outdoors and the ability to rise early.
Wendy was a devoted and adoring wife of 42 years to Bruce, loving mother to Hayley, Jonathan, Kara and Thomas, loving mother in law to Dana, Courtney and Ryan, and nurturing grandma “Myna” to Elizabeth, Hannah, Violet, Ruthie, Cassidy and Quinn. Wendy was also a cherished sister to Doug, Karen and Cheryl.
Wendy had limitless energy. She did not waste a minute whether it be gardening, teaching piano locally and at the Brandon University Conservatory, serving on town council and the school board, working on house renovations for her children, or spending time on one of her many hobbies including sewing, stained glass, baking and reading. Wendy’s greatest joy was spending time with Bruce, her children and her beloved granddaughters.
We will remember Wendy for the way she lived life, with joy and gratitude. It was important to her to live each day fully and with mindfulness. Even when faced with the journey of cancer, she took it on with courage and grace finding peace and happiness in each day.
The family would like to thank Dr. Poettcker and the staff at the Neepawa Health Center and Dr. Altman and the staff at CancerCare Manitoba for taking care of our Wendy.
A ceremony of celebration will be held at the Neepawa United Church Thursday, March 19th, 2020 at 2:00 pm. Due to the recent international health crisis, individuals who are unable to attend but would like to send their wishes, please email wmenzies@mymts.net or post a tribute at whitesfh.ca
