Obituary of Wayne Willard Smith
Wayne Willard Smith, 66, of Ridgetown, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance on Saturday, January 11th, 2020.
Born in Sarnia, Wayne was the son of the late Willard and Eva Smith (nee Starkey) of Ridgetown.
Loving father to Christopher Smith of Red Deer, and Carey (Marc) Bower of Toronto. Beloved partner of “D” (Dorothy) DeCook, whose family will also miss him dearly. Adoring Grandpa to Abigail and Elliott Bower. Loving brother of Kenneth and wife Shirley Smith of Ridgetown, Marlene and husband Paul Kirby of Ridgetown, Marilyn and husband Randy Crow of Chatham, and Donna and husband Randy Hayes of Vero Beach, Florida.
Predeceased by his brother Robert Smith (d. 1993), and sister Dorthy Scarrow (d. 2006). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a Celebration of Wayne’s life at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown, on Thursday, January 16th, 2020 beginning at 1pm, followed by a brief service at 2:30pm. In keeping with Wayne’s wishes cremation has taken place. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne’s memory may be made to Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
