Obituary of Wayne Edward Dearman
It is with broken hearts that the family of Wayne Edward Dearman, 74 of Windsor, announce his passing at the Dykeland Lodge on Monday, August 24, 2020, with his wife, Ruth and his daughter, Joanna by his side. After being diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, he fought a long courageous battle. He remained as independent and as positive as he could be. Born on August 16, 1946 in Gypsum Mines, Hants County, he was the son of the late Maurice and Mary (Mosher) Dearman.
Wayne retired from the Fundy Gypsum Company in 2007 at the age of 61. He had a big heart, always helping those in need. He had a beautiful smile, and often made others laugh. When he hugged, he always squeezed hard, it was not just a hug, he would envelope you in arms filled with love. He had a great love for any and all animals.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ruth (Frost) Dearman; son Alan Wallace (Karen Moore), Leminster; daughters Kathy nee Wallace (Howard Chandler), Leminster, Joanna (Tim McNeille), Ellershouse; grandchildren Jamie Chandler, Kelly Chandler, Alan Chandler (Odessa White); six great-grandchildren; brothers Maurice (Fern) Dearman, Walton; Gordon (Marilyn) Dearman, MacKay Section; Owen (Debbie) Dearman, Grimsby, ON; Peter (Laura) Dearman, Beansville, ON; Frank (Kim) Dearman, MacKay Section; sisters Lucille McDow (Leonard Hughs), Hantsport; Margaret (Victor “Bun”) Swinamer, Three Mile Plains; Clara Leary, Windsor; Marion (Ray) Gourley, Surrey, BC; brother-in-law Brayden “Butch” McDow, Murphy Lake; sisters-in-law Marilyn Dearman, Windsor, ON; Ella Dearman, Ellershouse; Cess Dearman, Windsor; many nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brother Johnny Dearman; brother-in-law Reid Leary; and his beloved second father, Robert “Rob” Whitehead.
We would like to thank the staff at the Dykeland Lodge for the care they gave to Wayne. We so much appreciated staff visiting him while he was in palliative care and the kind words that they spoke to him.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral at this time. Wayne’s favourite country singer was “George Jones.” Please play the “Choices” and think of Wayne. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia SPCA or a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Wayne
