Wayne Vacheresse
1946-2020
Wayne James Vacheresse, left this world in peace
and dignity on July 12, 2020, with family by his side, after a
courageous journey with ALS. He was offered an opportunity of a
lifetime, a reunion with family, a wonderful place full of
God’s love and no suffering nor hardships, just joy. He was
born in Halifax on the 17 th of April 1946, to the late Wallace and
Florence Vacheresse. He was predeceased by his brother, Bill and
grandchildren, Kristopher and Acacia. His wife Virginia
“Ginny” (nee Pollard) was the mainstay of his life,
to her he will always be her “Hon”. His sons, James,
Marc (Erin) and Richard (Michelle), and his grandchildren, Connor
(Brittney), Briauna, Caitlin (Sebastian), Alexis and Elizabeth, were
his joy and inspiration. His daughters-in-law were daughters that he
inherited with love and acceptance. He was cherished by his dear
brothers and sisters, Gordon, Nancy (George), Larry, Gary (Mary),
Denise and will be missed by his many nieces and nephews, his extended
Pollard family and his dear friends from near and far. His one hope
was that his family will always have him in their hearts with love and
great memories. He enjoyed the simple things in life; his family,
home, cottage, sports, volunteering and everyday joys such was walks,
talks, friendships and food. He was a teacher, an educator, and had
many fond and rewarding memories and experiences from his career.
“Hi Mr. V”, was often heard as he travelled about
the province and the world. Softness, gentleness and kindness were his
attributes. Sincere thanks to the ALS Society of NS/NB; Palliative
Care Team, Aberdeen Hospital; ALS Team NS Rehabilitation Centre; and
special angels of the VON Home Care Team for all of their support,
care and dedication. Visitation to be held 6-8 pm Thursday, July 16,
in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. All
COVID related public health measures will be respected and those
attending are encouraged to wear a mask. A private burial ceremony
will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or the ALS Society of
NS/NB.
