A life well lived has come to an end as a gentle spirit left the earth on August 21, 2020.
Warren George Gudjonson was born February 1, 1932 in Wynyard SK. He grew up as the youngest of the Gudjonson clan joining siblings Bryan, Elsie, Muriel and his parents Ingi and Jessie. He married the love of his life Margaret McConachie June of 1954 – a love match of 59 years. Born of their love were David, Deborah and Todd who took seats at the table – and the family grew; David (Donna), Deb (Dale), and Todd. Grand babies, Michael and Ferrah, Maryn and Jake, James and Chrystal, Cameron and Katie, Jesse and Carly, Hailey, Will and Lukas, Erin and Tyler and Luna, Doug and Anderson, Crystal and Adam, Madeleine, Kailene and Scott, Tianna and Austin, and Roman. He celebrated each of us; son or daughter, grandchild, great grandchild, niece, nephew, friend and neighbor. Dad cherished his big sister Muriel and every opportunity to connect in person, by phone or by mail. Our 2019 FAM JAM let us all witness that special love.
Over his lifetime Dad worked with CPR railways, and transitioned to meat cutting and then to retail management in Prince Albert, Calgary, and Saskatoon. Retirement brought thoughts of relocation to a warmer climate. Summers were reserved for Freeman Island at Lac La Ronge. Ladysmith, BC was a great place to call home. Mom and Dad loved the ocean, the climate and the growing season. They dearly loved the visits and treasured connections of family and friends. With Todd’s passing in 2012, Moms passing in 2013 the days got lonely. His choice was to remain in his island home Dad embraced his neighbors and friends, his Ladysmith Senior Centre Cribbage family, and his faith family at Ladysmith Bethel Church.
He lived his life with no malice and leaves with no regrets. He was handy with repairs and could MacGyver almost anything back to working order. He loved his family dearly and never missed an opportunity to be thankful for a call or note.
Be thankful that he touched your life, for no doubt he left it richer.
To have loved, to be loved, and to leave loved is dignity.
