Wainwright William James 2020

1935-2020 Retired Toronto Firefighter, Captain Bill Wainwright, passed away peacefully on Friday October 02, 2020, surrounded by his family.During his 35-year career with the Fire Department, he was well respected and admired by his colleagues and during his 25 years of retirement in the Madawaska Valley he forged many enduring friendships. His very full and active life included volunteering for the Opeongo Seniors’ Centre and the Snow Country Snowmobile Association. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boating and ATVing. He was a loyal and devoted husband to his wife of 54 years, Patricia, and to his wife of 10 plus years, Victoria. He is survived by his son Donald (Sheila), his sister Valorie, his grandson Jason (Tara) and granddaughter Kimberly. He will be forever missed by his 5 great grandchildren, has stepdaughter and step-grandson, his nieces and nephew. Those who had the privilege of knowing Bill, can attest to the fact that the world has lost a true gentleman and a genuinely great person. The family would like to thank Dr. Chen as well as the staff and volunteers at the Madawaska Valley Hospice in Barry’s Bay, for their support, compassion, and excellent care during Bill’s last days.
