Violet Evelyn Behrenz 1923 2020

Obituary of Violet Evelyn Behrenz
Violet was born on Monday November 26, 1923 in Billingshurst, West Sus, England to Florence Mabel Lilywhite and Joseph Albert Napper, a sailor in Her Majesty’s Royal Navy, serving on H.M.S. Alsatian. She had one brother, Joseph, who passed in infancy due to a tragic accident. As a young girl, she enjoyed her pet spaniel, Prince, playing with her doll and pram, and making bouquets of flowers to make God’s house beautiful on Sunday mornings. She loved to sing and dance from a very early age. She was blessed with the voice of an angel, a passion for music, and could she dance! Violet was a young women during the heavy bombing blitzes, which she found inconveniently cut into her dancing time. She chose to take her chances during the raids, incredibly forgoing the safety of shelters at the sound of air raid sirens to keep about her business. She knew from early on her life was in God’s hands. Her strong faith had a profound affect on her life and on those around her. She came to Canada in 1943, settling in Moose Jaw, where she met her husband, James Bernard Behrenz (deceased March 15, 1990). They lived in several areas including Swift Current, Red Deer and a farm near Cold Lake, returning to Swift Current where they took up permanent residence. Violet relocated to Weldon, in June of 2012 to be closer to her children. Violet was proud when she became a Canadian citizen.
Violet made a remarkable life for herself, skilled in the art of homemaking, needlework, beading and gardening. She was a loving mother devoted to her two children, Connie and Cameron, and adored her grandchildren Matthew, Kendra, Sarah, Joel and Joshua. They were the light of her life.
She is survived by 5 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Violet was very involved in her faith community singing solos in the choir. It brought her joy to teach crafts and Sunday school to the little children of her church. She gave generously of her time and resources to help others. She was a friend and teacher to many.
Violet was a pure spirit, a gentle heart, that drew birds, animals and people to her like a magnet. Infinite patience, always hopeful, cheerful and sunny. Accepting of others, warm and friendly. Violet led a simple yet elegant life. Her favourite pass time was sitting in her garden, surrounded by colourful flowers, birds and butterflies, enjoying a nice cup of tea. A quietly determined spirit and undeniable life force saw her through all the waves of her life, unshakable as she walked in life and in passing as God’s child, on Sunday January 12, 2020 at 7:02 pm.
Our beautiful mother lives on with us.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Violet
