Violet Babin 1926-2020

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family announces the death of Violet “Vi” Babin, wife of the late Lawny Babin, of South Bathurst, passed away on Monday December 28, 2020, at the Robert L Knowles Veterans Unit, at the age of 94.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Catherine (Lavigne) Pitre.
Vi was a lifelong resident of Bathurst where she and her husband, Lawny, the love of her life, raised their family.
She is survived by her son: Lawney (Suzanne) Babin, of Whitecourt, AB.
Four grandchildren: Jamin (Jeff) Wilson, Sally (Philip) Duguay, Jillian (Jonathan) White, Shayne (Brittany) Babin.
Six great-grandchildren: Jasmine and Xavier Duguay, Hudson Wilson, Liam and Wyatt Babin and Lucas White.
One brother: Elmer (Millie) Petrie.
Several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Lawny Babin, and her daughter, Nancy (Guy) Chamberlain. Also her sisters Eva (late Leo Malley), Clara (late Anthony “Tenie” Melanson), Lillian (late Gratton Hazel) and her brother Bill (late Lillian) Petrie.
Vi “Nanny” was a very proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was also a favourite aunt for many “Auntie Vi”. She loved her family and was always game to do just about anything. She will be fondly remembered and missed by many.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Robert L Knowles Veterans Unit, Maison Doucet, Southern Comfort care homes, who helped with her care in these last years and days of her life.
Due to Covid restrictions, a funeral service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com)
