She was predeceased by her husband John (Jack) Riendeau, her parents Douglas and Francis Caldwell, her sister Yvonne Miller and brother-in-law Ron Miller. Verna is survived by her son Ian (Diane) Riendeau, their children Wylie (Veselina) Riendeau, Maisie (Ethan) Lewry, Sadie (Kirby) Braybrook, Annie Riendeau, Wyatt ( Jessi) Riendeau, her son Guy (Vicki) Riendeau, their children Jacklyn (Mike) Ekes, Rachel (Buddy) Riendeau, her son Lee (Jeneen) Riendeau, their children Sarah (Eric) Riendeau, Jesse Riendeau, Jud (Amaya) Riendeau, her daughter Cindy (Chad) Keens, their children Mackenzie Keens, Morgan Keens, her daughter Marie(Kevin) Rookes, their children Dustin Rookes, Caitlyn(Blake) Rookes, Logan (Josh) Rookes, Great-grandchildren Sierra and Mikayla Good, Carter and Rayna Ekes and Maks Spely Gyurov. Verna grew and took her schooling in Lawson, Sk. Upon graduating from Gr.12 in 1951, she attended the Moose Jaw Union Hospital School of Nursing. Verna graduated as a Registered Nurse in May of 1954. She worked as an RN in Central Butte until she married the love of her life John Riendeau in June 1955. They moved to Victoria, B.C. where she continued working as an RN until John’s discharge from the Navy in 1956. They returned to Moose Jaw in 1957 when John joined the Moose Jaw Fire Department. Here they would raise their 5 children and both remained for their entire lives. Verna was very active in the Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary, the United Church Women’s Club, the local Curling Club and the MJUH Nurses Alumni. She was an avid sports fan of the Moose Jaw Warriors, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. Verna put her career on hold to raise a family and her greatest joy was watching her children and grand-children involved in their many functions. There wasn’t a place on earth she wouldn’t go to watch some type of activity. They were without a doubt the most important part of her life. She cherished every second she spent with her family; it was her sole purpose in life. We loved her more than words can say and she will be forever missed. A Celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday February 26th, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Jones- Parkview Funeral Services Reception Centre, 474 Hochelaga St W., Moose Jaw.
