Val passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2020 at Crown Ridge Place, Trenton in her 93rd year. Loving wife of the late Donald Smylie, cherished mother of Tom Smylie & his wife Jackie, Mike Smylie, Mari Glockler (nee Smylie) & her husband Walter Lauf, John Smylie & his wife Angela, Paul Smylie & his wife Susan and Jane Clark (nee Smylie) & her husband Bob. Born in Woodstock Ontario on May 9, 1927, Val was kind, compassionate, helpful and strong, all qualities which stemmed from her strong faith. Val faced health challenges with bravery and tenacity. She was always available to listen to people in need and provide guidance to help them heal. Val was a dedicated Registered Nurse, spending her entire career in the hospital, private care and hospice care settings. She was a devoted member at Saint Lawrence Anglican Church, Brockville and was an Associate Member of the Sisterhood of St. John the Divine. A memorial service will be held in Brockville at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to the Brockville General Hospital Foundation—“Ride The River Campaign,” or St. Lawrence Anglican Church Brockville would be appreciated by the family.
