Thomai (Thelma) Theodore (nee Lazarou)
Thelma Theodore, age 90, of Wasaga Beach Ontario passed away on April 11th 2020 at the Collinwood Ontario Hospital, with the love and prayers of her family comforting her onto her next journey. She spent most of her adult life with her family in the city of Toronto.
Thomai (often called Tosha by close family and friends) was born in the beautiful village of Antartikon located in the province of Macedonia, Greece – the traditional name is “Zelevo” – to parents Vasilios and Tena Lazarou along with her former siblings Lazou, Fana and Christina.
In 1950, Thelma decided to make the big decision to leave her life in Greece to marry George Theodore (deceased 2011) and moved to Toronto Ontario Canada to be welcomed by her new family Vasil and Velika and their daughters Sophie (Stoyanoff) and Kay (Divitcos) where she spent more than 60 wonderful years of married life and raised her children Alexander, Paul, David and Bill and surrounded by many nieces (Judy and Diane) and nephews (Howard, Robert and Steven) along with many life-long friends and other relatives. She was so happy to have the companionship of her sister Christina in Toronto, who subsequently married Vasilios “Bill” Janetos and adored their daughter Diane and sons Louis and Tom. She was also welcomed her deceased brother Lauzo’s children, George and Nikki, to Canada in the 1970’s.
Thelma had a great touch in the garden growing vegetables and colorful flower arrangements; she had a knack for baking many traditional foods and pastries and always ensured that the people around her ate well. She loved to entertain friends and family and will truly be remembered by most for her ability to converse about many social activities and family issues, in addition to the great “pita” that she usually provided.
Thelma had enjoyed the comradery and love of so many friends and relatives over her long life, something she appeared to cherish right up to her last years; but she has also experienced a few heartaches and loss which had never been forgotten. In her last few years of life, despite her declining health, Thelma appeared to enjoy the comfort of her family and her surroundings. Everyone that touched her life will undoubtedly be treasured by her friendship, as well.

Arrangements entrusted to Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach, 509 River Road West.
Cremation has taken place and a private family Interment will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in the Theodore Family Plot
