Obituary for
Thérèse Allard
MÉNARD-ALLARD, Thérèse
The family announces with sorrow the death of Thérèse Allard of Sudbury on June 13, 2020 at the age of 88 years. Daughter of the late Henri Ménard and the late Anna Bélisle of Blezard Valley, Thérèse was predeceased by her husband Gilles Allard (2011) and her son Marc Allard (03-2020). Beloved mother of Francois (Denise Duguay), Ginette (Pierre Leclair) & Micheline (Patrick Ferguson). Dear sister of Cyril Ménard (Rachelle). Predeceased by her brother Georges Ménard in 2003 (Jacqueline predeceased) and her sister Georgette Ménard (predeceased 1939). Survived by her 13 grandchildren: Stéphane-Henri, Mathieu-Philippe, Nathalie-Anne, Anik, Sylvain, Josée, Daniel, Melissa, Nicolas, Michel, Nathan, Danika and Bianelle as well as her precious 17 great-grandchildren, the twins Lincoln and Logan, Amélie, Patrick, Danick, Vincent, René-Charles, Alexie, Jamie, Désirée, Grace, Clara, Ava May (predeceased), Kate, Maggie, Huxley & Mavi. Her large Bélisle and Ménard families, as well as her dear friends, Charlotte, Madeleine, Diane and Lily, among many others will remember her fondly. Thérèse joins the Grey Nuns of Charity (1949-1955) working in Ottawa and Lowel, Massachusetts. Thérèse retired after 35 years of teaching with the French Catholic School Board in Sudbury. Many of her former students in Home Economics will remember her culinary talents and sewing abilities. A very active woman outside of her working hours, she was involved in various committees such as ACFO, AEFO and was also an active member of various other organizations such as the, L’Université du 3ieme âge, REO, Comme Femme, etc. Our mother was an outstanding cook who also enjoyed her needlework and several other crafts. Perfection was her goal. Following her retirement, she deepened her talents with Bunka to raise funds for the Cancer Society and often helped with the fundraising for Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer-NOFCC. Leading an active life she would escape to her cottages on Cache Lake, where she engaged in various construction and renovations projects. She loved gardening, kayaking, reading and playing board games with family & friends. She also knew how to find the time to visit the four corners of the planet… We especially thank the health care professionals for their understanding, kindness and compassion towards our mother since her health problems over the past 18 months. Due to the pandemic, a celebration of life and a memorial service will be held at a later date with arrangements made by the Cooperative Funeral Home on Lasalle Blvd in Sudbury. In her memory, the family will appreciate donations to the following organizations: NOFCC, Heart and Stroke Foundation, and Northern Cancer Foundation. www.cooperativefuneraire.ca
