Obituary of Theresa Warren
Mom was born on June 9, 1950 in Chapel Arm to John and Susie Warren. She always referred to her Dad as her hero – a kind, gentle soul who loved his family immensely. My grandmother was a funny lady who would walk hot coals for her children and grandchildren. I know Mom was so warm, caring and nurturing because of them. Mom had 2 younger brothers (Tom and John) and 2 younger sisters (Cathy and Cindy). They remained close over the years although miles separated them. Spouses became loved parts of the family and as nieces and nephews were born the family unit got stronger. The sister bond was special (sorry Tom and John) and any time they were together resulted in a lot of laughs, hugs and memories to last a lifetime.
Mom had me at a young age. She always told me she wanted lots of kids but I ended up being an only child. Selfishly, I was happy to have her all to myself. She was the cool mom – hip, fashionable and beautiful. Mom’s favourite name was Nanny to my son Nathan. Although we lived provinces apart she always made it to Ontario for special occasions and planned her next trip as soon as one ended. She loved my husband John and affectionately called him her #1 son-in-law.
Mom worked in healthcare until she retired but her most fulfilling career was one she did after retiring. She worked with a wonderful little boy named Lucas Batstone. It was a true labor of love and their bond was unique. Lucas and Mom shared lunch dates at McDonalds, sleepovers with games and singing songs to the many kids CD’s she kept in the car for him.
Mom spent her last 4 years with a wonderful man, Bill Bursey. Bill and Mom spent winters in Florida, weekends in Brigus Junction and with Bill she found true happiness. She was embraced by his family and friends and I enjoyed hearing all about how much fun she was having at lobster boils, mug ups, carport parties and boxing day brunches to name a few.
Mom had a special place in her heart for her 3 aunts Nellie, Sadie and Gladys and loved her visits and hugs with them. She was cherished and will be missed by the McDonald clan who loved her like a sister.
Mom was 69 when she passed away on April 24, 2020. Mom, your love will live in our hearts forever. In memory of Mom our family asks that during this very difficult time of COVID19 you spread kindness. You can simply do a good deed for a neighbour or donate to a charity of your choice such as the Canadian Mental Health Association or The Gathering Place. Mom will be cremated and buried at a later date. To send a message of condolence, please visit www.hickeysfuneralhome.com
