Obituary
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, brother, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend.
Terry was born in Val d’Or, QC. The second oldest of four children born to Cyril and Phyllis Cloghesy.
In 1934 his father was hired on as the assayer for the Dickenson Gold Mine in Red Lake, ON. Terry grew up in what was for him the perfect environment. He was active in fastball, curling, hockey, hunting, fishing, and working on motorcycles and cars. Finishing school, he worked in the mine, then in 1963 he travelled to Vancouver, hiring on with Canadian Mine Services which sent him to northern mines in BC, fixing downed machinery. He had his master mechanic license and his welding ticket. He was an excellent, reliable worker. Any machine that needed fixing he was more than happy to get it back into working order.
In the summer of 1967, he met his future wife, Elaine Key. They were married in Edmonton in August 1968. The following year their dear little daughter Dana was born, and three years later, sweet little Lisa made the family complete.
After moves to Merritt, Princeton, Vancouver and Cranbrook, the family settled down in Fernie in 1980 where Terry worked as Maintenance Superintendent for Finning Tractor. In 1983 he worked for Riv Quip, later bought by SMS in Elkford, working as Manager of Field Services, retiring in 2006.
Terry enjoyed camping with family, trips to Bonners Ferry, holidays in Phoenix with his brother Tom and Marg, so many great years hunting, fishing, and golfing with family and friends. He lived a full and wonderful life. He had so many amazing, fall down laughable true stories of his life in Red Lake and in northern mining camps.
A special thank you to Dr. Stimson and the care shown to Terry by the nurses and all the staff while he was a patient in the Elk Valley Hospital, and to the wonderful, caring staff at Rocky Mountain Village. Thank you to everyone from our families.
Terry leave to mourn, his wife Elaine, daughters Dana (Dean) and Lisa (Simon), grandchildren Jonah, Kaleb, Logan and Levi, his brother Tom (Marg), his brother-in-law Don (Heather) Key, many nieces and nephews, and his little four legged buddy, Max. He was predeceased by his parents Cyril and Phyllis Cloghesy, sisters Helen Margetts and Maureen Cloghesy, and his sister-in-law Mary Cloghesy.
