Tanis’ Obituary
BRYSON, Tanis Audrey ~ age 82 of Kingston, NS passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Grace (Tait) Siewert. Tanis started her working career in Vancouver with the Hudson Bay Company, and shortly thereafter she met the love of her life, Edward Bryson, in Winnipeg. They were married in 1959 after Edward completed his basic Air Force training, and on his posting to Quebec, they started a family; Tanis stayed at home with her children. She obtained her CIM (Canadian Institute of Management) as an adult in Winnipeg while also being employed by Federal Pioneer. Her children were attending university in Manitoba while she achieved this. In 1998, they moved back to Kingston, NS where she became an active member of the Kingston Lions Club. Tanis further supported her community by being involved with the Community Health Board in Kingston, CARP (Clean Annapolis River Project) and was involved with various community events. Throughout her career, she was a member of numerous bridge clubs, forming many close friendships. Tanis was a very artistically talented woman who enjoyed painting, even selling some of her work. She loved travelling, spending winters in the southern states, and her and Edwards’ travels included Bermuda, the UK, and Europe (Germany, Amsterdam, and France). While vacationing in Bermuda, she discovered a love for sailing, and with little effort she convinced Edward to purchase a sailboat of their own; soon they were members of the Northern Yacht Club in Kenora, ON.
Tanis was a self-determined, strong woman, who gave her all in her marriage, family, career and any and all projects she was involved in. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 61 years, Edward; her sons, Edward Craig (Kami Copeland) and their son Kain, Esquimalt, BC; Douglas Stewart, Rennes, France and his children James, Kati, and Julian; sisters, Dolores MacDonald, Delta, BC; Rhona Porter, Winnipeg, MB; brother, Kenneth Siewert, Winnipeg, MB; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Carole Jordan and a granddaughter, Cymbeline. In keeping with Tanis’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Lions memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to Lion’s Foundation of Nova Scotia, Kingston Lions Club, CNIB, or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Online guest book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
