Sylvia passed away peacefully at The Summit, Victoria, BC. A loving and caring mother, she is survived by her children Cindy, Doug and Angela (Mike), step-children Dalton, Denise, Diane and Donna, her 8 grandchildren (Nikki, Danielle, Jaime, Victoria Jennifer, Nathan, Chelsea and Shantal), 6 great-grandchildren (Michelle, Jayden, Emma, Caley, Arianna and Jemma) and 1 great-great-grandchild (Grace) as well as many friends. She was predeceased by her parents George and Stenna, brothers Owen and Glen, sister Leona, daughter Valerie and husband Albert.
Sylvia spent her first 5 years in Meadow Lake Saskatchewan. The family moved to Victoria, where, following school, she later married Robert Caley. Sylvia had a zest for life, was very kind and had a great sense of humour. She enjoyed activities such as walking and hiking, gathering with friends for a friendly game of cards, meeting socially for dinner, and cooking for friends and family. After spending her early family years at home with the children, she worked in a wide variety of jobs including sales clerk, office admin, working in a bakery, banking & finished her work life owning the recycling depot in Ucluelet. She remarried in 1985 to Albert Burt, following which they moved to Ucluelet where she lived until 2017.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
