Sylvia Grace McNutt
1933-2020
Sylvia Grace McNutt – 87, Bible Hill. It
is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our mother,
Sylvia Grace McNutt, who passed away at Debert Court on Thursday, May
14, 2020, with her children by her side. Born in North River,
Colchester County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Capen and
Lucy May (Upham) Upham.
Sylvia enjoyed meeting people and working with the public.
She started her working career at Dolmon’s Ready to Wear,
followed by Zeller’s County Fair and Truro Consumers Co-Op
as the Manager, before starting her own restaurant called
Sylvia’s Place and later worked at Irving Big Stop
Restaurant. Sylvia was a member of and enjoyed volunteering at First
United Church, Truro, and was an active member of the UCW, Unit
“H”; she also volunteered for many years at the
Coffee Shop at Colchester Regional Hospital. She enjoyed camping with
her family and was a member of Hub Campers for many
years.
Sylvia is survived by her cherished and devoted children,
Cynthia Cooper (Steve), New Jersey; Sonya Law, Bible Hill; Trevor
(Jodi), Truro; grandchildren, Joe and Alicia Cooper, Brandon and Josh
Law, Zachary McNutt; numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her
parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years,
Clifford Blanchard McNutt.; brothers, Earl, Carmen; sisters, Elva
(Husband, William, and children, Darlene and Darrell Veinotte) and
Thelma (Husband, Ron and children, Sandra Valachovic and David
Callis).
The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation
for the outstanding, loving care and kindness showed by the devoted
staff at Debert Court, and to the nurse practitioner, Lynn, who guided
her team with such expertise and reassurance through this difficult
time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
