On October 29th, 2020, our family said a loving farewell to our dear mom, Sylvia Colleen Roeters (née: Foster) at the age of 84 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Hank Roeters, only 18 months ago, nearly to the day. Left to cherish her in loving memory are her children: Christina (Graeme), Kevan (Marlène), Danna (Robert); and five grandchildren, Nathan (Ross), Graham, Garrett, Jocelyn and Nicolas. As well as family and friends.
Sylvia was a kind, generous and nurturing person, who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. As a teen, she enjoyed playing sports and continued to be an avid watcher of figure skating, hockey, curling and the Olympics. There were no big chats if you called her when curling was on.
A teacher by profession in her 20’s, Mom spoke fondly of this time. At age 46 and alongside her daughter, she returned to college and earned a Business Office Training certificate, at which she excelled. Mom was an intelligent woman who always won at scrabble and did the crossword puzzle in pen.
Sylvia had a gift for hospitality that made people feel right at home. Many Christmas dinners included guests that needed a friendly place to go. She had a wonderful (often sarcastic!) sense of humour, was quick with a laugh and always enjoyed a good joke or funny story.
A dedicated wife, mother and grandma, she was fiercely proud of her family and made sure we all knew how much she loved us. She lived her life with unwavering faith and spirituality, right to the end.
We will miss you dearly Mom, but we take comfort in knowing that you are back with your dance partner. Give Dad a hug from us. ox
