Susan James

It is with heavy hearts that family members announce the peaceful passing of their dear mother and grandmother Susan “Sue” James (nee Ward), at age of 101. Sue was predeceased by her loving parents Ignatius Ward and Mary Ward (nee White) of South east Bight; her beloved husband George P James, of Daniel’s Point, Trepassey; grandson Travis Matthew James, formally from Holyrood, NL; three brothers: Fedilas Ward, John “Jack” Ward and Ignatius “Neet” Ward; sister-in-law May (Ryan) Ward from Little Paradise P.B., NL.; and brother-in- law Gus James from Trepassey, NL. Leaving to cherish her memory are her four sons: Terry (Debbie), Wayne (Frances), Karl and Fabian (Amy); eight grandchildren: Jackie James (Hussey), Jody James, Peter James, Robin James (Falkowski), Troy James, Curtis James, Shannon Hawes and Bristol James; nine great grand children, Kieren, Jack, Jeremy, Keely. Casey, Ryan. Xander, Ariya and Mason, one sister Elizabeth [Betty] Flynn From St George’s, Stephenville, NL; five sisters-in-law: Philomena Sutton, Lucilla James, Colette Phalen, Martha Ward and Edna Ward; brother-in-law Ed James; numerous nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends. Dedicated to her loving family Sue lived a life of grace, dignity and faith always putting the needs of others before her own. Well know for her generous personality and welcoming nature. Sue embraced life and was a very religious person. In addition to her regular attendance at mass, Sue was also an active member of St. Teresa’s Church community. Sue visited the Shrine of St. Anne in Montreal and always cherished her blessed St Anne’s oil. Originally from South East Bight, P.B. NL, Sue moved to St. John’s and married there but always enjoyed returning to her place of birth where she treasured her cabin, a boil-up in the cove, a good game of cards and numerous, annual South East Bight Garden Party’s. She always loved having her grand children visit and stay for a sleepover. Some of her favourite pass times were reading, sewing and knitting for her family and friends. A special thank you to her dear friends: Mary Joe Whyte, Martha Ward, Mercedes Burke, Annie Brennan, Sisters Mildred and Dolorosa whom made special efforts to visit Sue at Crae Manor and St. Patrick’s Mercy home. Thank-you to the staff at St Patrick’s Mercy Home and Dr Ennis for all the special care and love they showed her during her time there. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Thursday, November 5th, 2020 from 3 p.m to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass Celebration of a Wonderful life and internment will take place at St Anne’s Church South East Bight Placentia Bay. Date and time to be announced at a later date due to current COVID restrictions. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Anne’s Church Committee, General Delivery, South East Bight, NL, A0E 3B0.
