Obituary of Stephen ‘Steve’ Dowden
It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the peaceful but sudden death of a dear husband, father, and grandfather, Stephen ‘Steve’ Dowden. Steve died in North Sydney, Nova Scotia on Monday, June 29, 2020, at the age 66 years.
Predeceased by parents: Eli and Wilma.
Leaving to mourn, his loving and devoted wife of 44 years: Mary; two adoring daughters: Mary (Edward) Marrie, Dartmouth, NS and Amanda Dowden, Carbonear; five grandchildren, who were his world: Andrew, Ryan, and Grace Marrie, Andrea and Evan Hulan, and their father: Jason Hulan; one brother: Wade, Carbonear; two sisters: Glenda Baldwin (Glenn), Goose Bay and Elizabeth (Herb) Mercer, Upper Island Cove; aunt: Marg (Harold) Hancock; uncles: Charles (Ann) Dowden and Jim (Lina) Dowden, all of Carbonear; mother-in-law: Mary Lane; brother-in-law: Wayne Lane; sister-in-law: Joan (Pleman “Jr”) Colbourne, all of Carbonear; his co-workers at Coast to Coast Transport, Newman’s Cove, his Trucker buddies, and a large number of extended relatives and friends.
Always with a smile on his face, a joke and a story to share. Rest easy our treasured soul. You’ll be greatly missed and we’ll never be the same.
Following government legislation due to the current pandemic, a private visitation will take place at Noel’s Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear, followed by a private funeral service from Noel’s Memorial Chapel, Carbonear. Interment in the Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the Steve Dowden Memorial Fund, c/o Noel’s Funeral Homes, 106 Water Street, Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1A9.

Andrew i can remember the fun times you had with your two poppies ,Dad and friends on the street playing hockey. Andrew, Ryan & Grace , Andrea & Evan cherish the good memories and your Pop will live forever in your hearts. Our prayers and thoughts are with all of you during this very sad time in your lives.
