STEPHEN CLAUDE FOSTER
December 19, 1951 – August 14, 2020
With shock and disbelief, we sadly announce that Stephen Foster (Rock) suddenly passed away Thursday, August 14, 2020 at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg.
Stephen is survived by Shirley (his wife of 47 years), daughters Jennie (Jamie) and Tracey and his best “Buddy” Scooter. Stephen was predeceased by his mother Marion in 2007 and father Fred in 2009.
Stephen was born and lived his entire life in Winnipeg. He worked with Canada Post and it was there that he met many life long friends. He truly enjoyed working as a letter carrier. He retired in 2011 after 35 years of service.
Stephen had many loves and interests but first and foremost was his family, especially his daughters. He was so proud of them. He always enjoyed music and played his guitar daily and loved “band” practice. Sports, especially the Habs, was a huge part of his life. He golfed at least twice a week and recently got an Eagle which made him very happy.
West Hawk Lake has always been a special place. He enjoyed being there with family and friends and was always ready to go fishing, hoping to catch the “big” one.
Stephen coached both his daughters in softball and also coached boy’s hockey. He put his whole heart into these activities and felt coaching was very rewarding.
It is no surprise that when he retired, Stephen started to work with the City of Winnipeg in their Learn to Skate programs, Skate Patrol and the Skating Program at Dufferin School. He had found a new passion and he excelled in it, absolutely loved working with the kids.
Stephen particularly loved Newfoundland. He had been there at least eight times and planned to return. He felt the pull of the ocean and loved the people and the land.
Cremation has taken place and according to Stephen’s wishes there will not be a funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
Our hearts are broken, you were our strength and the core of our family. Laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears be strong and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason.
We Love You Daddy-O Always and Forever.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Stephen Claude Foster December 19 1951 August 24 2020..
