Obituary
Skye Charlette of Cranberry Portage left suddenly to be with the Creator on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the young age of 24 years.
Skye was born on Friday, May 12, 1995 at the St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, to Dolly Charlette and Joey Cook. Skye received her education at Cold Lake School and Frontier Collegiate Institute.
During her life she lived with mom Dolly, but was raised primarily by her late grandfather Peter Charlette and grandma Heather Charlette.
Skye loved to do hair and nails, play pool, and many outdoor activities such as playing baseball, swimming and boating. One of her favorite games was Pictionary where she and her family would laugh into the wee hours of the night. Her passion was being the best mom she could be for her beautiful daughters Xena (Star) and Brenda. Her quiet and loving nature drew many friends and family towards her and all that knew her understood her gentle spirit. In her compassionate and humble demeanour, Skye was also a very shy young girl. She didn’t say much but had this huge heart and would never intentionally hurt a soul.
Skye was often outwitted by her little brother Keelan who once told her he could send her $20 by touching the money to his phone and that she would get it. Another unforgettable time she googled “What do I do if I accidently put my bearded dragon in the washing machine?”, because she unknowingly washed her brother’s pet lizard. Although Skye had some life challenges, she did many things that made others laugh without even trying. Being around her made one feel peaceful and at ease. She was a very forgiving and non-judgmental person who just quietly walked her short journey here on earth and everyone that knew her loved her to pieces.
Upon her passing, she was given her spirit name: “She Who Sits by the Sacred Fire”. This name will carry her on her journey into the spirit world.
Skye leaves to mourn by her children Xena (Star) Charlette and Brenda Spence; parents Dolly Charlette and Joey Cook; brothers Keelan Charlette, Romeo Charlette, Nicholas Cook and Noah Cook; great grandmother Helena Castel; grandmothers Heather Charlette, Sylvia Cook; aunts Val Charlette (Tommy), Angie Laronde and Melody Cook; uncles J.R Charlette (Debbie), Willie Cook (Jenine); cousins Tristin Jobb, Sunshine Jobb, Peter Charlette, Garrett Charlette, Joseph Miller, Leeta Miller-Charlette, Maiya Charlette, McCoy Menow, Trina Laronde, Michael Laronde, Mitchell Laronde, William Cook, Hyacinth Cook, Emma Cook, Evelyn Cook, Darryl Cook, Alyshia Cook, Marcus Cook Alyiah Cook and Thomas Cook; her special friend Brendan Leask; and many other great aunts and uncles and cousins too numerous to mention.
Skye was predeceased by her brother Lambert (Stretch) Charlette; grandfathers Peter Charlette, Jim Cook; great grandfather Louie Caribou; uncles Joe Charlette and Lambert (Slim) Charlette; and cousin Marlon Laronde.
